Radio Horton 60th Anniversary

North Oxfordshire’s local hospital radio station, Radio Horton, celebrates 60 years of broadcasting in 2024 and I was asked by their Trustee board to create a special booklet, commemorating the achievements of the station over the last sixty years.

This project lasted around six months before its completion at the end of April 2024 and involved hours of research with the help of the stations Chairman. Once we had discussed initial ideas of content, structure and layout, I got to work in putting the pieces together.

Unfortunately the idea of a stand-alone commemorative booklet didn’t come to fruition due to funding costs, however it was agreed that what had been designed and produced would be added as a supplement to the station’s patient magazine which was already in production.

Working with the Chair of the station and the magazine editor, I was able to submit all appropriate pages, imagery and graphics for inclusion.

While the bulk of the work was research, copy and design, there was a small element of graphic design and a new logo created for the station in their 60th year. The request was to keep it simple, while ensuring the station’s typeface remained.

Using the ‘Radio Horton Blue’, I created a text-only logo, which is already being utilised across social, print and on digital platforms.

The magazine is still in production, so please check back soon for the link.
