It’s been a while since I last posted an update about Radio Cherwell, but it’s not all been quiet behind the scenes.

Plans for our fiftieth birthday celebrations are in motion. We celebrate our birthday in September and are currently planning a week of special programming and broadcasts live on location throughout Oxford’s hospitals. I’m not going to divulge too much, but it’s set to be a very entertaining week, and an extremely week for those of us giving up our time to work on the project.

Our website is also going to have a facelift this year, which is a project I’m overseeing. The stations current site really needs a major overhaul, having stayed pretty much the same for over the past 20 years. The new site will be mobile & tablet friendly, fresher in design and response, and will contain news from the station, useful information for patients, and most importantly information about the station and a more prominent and easy to use listen section.

I’m super excited to be working on this project with Wayne from Hospital Radio Lynn, who recently re-designed their website.

We’ve also been in the press quite a bit of late; our HBA Award for Best Programme with Multiple Presenters was featured in the Oxford Mail on the 7th and 12th April, as well as on our Trust’s own website, along with news of our £1,000 donation to us by the Round Table Lodge of Oxfordshire.

We progress with the building of the studios within our new building, and will hopefully have one of these up and running by the end of May. We do have some new signage on the outside though.

You’ll find me covering The Weekend For Everything Show a bit more over the coming months, and Saturday Lunch will make a return shortly, with a new name and new co-host (At least confirmed for one show and hopefully a regular!) It’ll be a MUST listen.

This is a highlight of mine from The Weekend For Everything Show last week:
