I’ve been volunteering since 2006 in roles primarily based around hospital, health and wellbeing broadcasting. I currently volunteer on a locally with Oxford’s hospital radio station, Radio Cherwell and on a nationally with the Hospital Broadcasting Association.
After spending seven years hosting Radio Cherwell’s flagship children’s programme The Weekend for Everything Show, I now present a Saturday afternoon programme with a great team, we simply have a laugh and play the hits. Elsewhere at the station, I work behind the scenes producing programmes, working on various Outside Broadcasts and Public Addresses as well as work with the station’s Trustee board advising them on best practice and ideas that can ensure the longevity of the station. Previously, I have held the roles of Programme Controller, Trustee and Publicity Office at the station.
Nationally, I volunteer with the Hospital Broadcasting Association, a charity I’ve been with since 2015. My tenure began as the Home Counties Regional Rep, looking after 12 stations in the region. During a restructure, I became editor of the organisations On-Air magazine, a role I still hold today, alongside being a Trustee and the organisations Communications Executive. This varied and sometimes challenging role of Communications Executive enables me to put my creative skills into practice, working on various campaigns throughout the year and ensuring the organisations 200+ members are kept informed on developments that may affect their stations. As a Trustee, I work alongside colleagues to ensure we’re meeting our charitable objectives and continue to provide support to our member stations.
I’ve also taken part in charity events for Sobell House Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Research.
