Hello, I’m Ian Pinnell, an experienced marketing creative based in Oxfordshire. With over twelve years of PR, Marketing and Communications experience with two charities I volunteer with, I’ve got the creative skillset and the eye for detail to make sure your marketing and communication is effective.

I became interested in media back in 2006, when I began volunteering for my local hospital radio station, Radio Cherwell. (Something I still do today). I’ve hosted a variety of programmes, including music/entertainment programmes, news programmes and patient participation programmes. I can still be heard on the station today as part of Saturday Lunch, but you’ll often find me behind the scenes working as the stations Publicity Officer, ensuring our marketing materials and publicity materials are reaching the right places, in the right format to help promote our events and services.

In 2008, I began studying Radio Production at the University of Gloucestershire and graduated in 2011 with a BA Honours Degree (2:1). During my time at University, I worked with student station, Tone Radio, and produced a variety of programmes and on-air promotions for the station. I also worked on pop-up stations including Wychwood 87.7FM and Jazz Town FM for the Barclays Cheltenham Jazz Festival back in 2010, primarily in production and marketing roles.

I’ve produced radio commercials that have been heard on stations including Heart, and have presented programmes on OX105, SixHits! and Sense Radio.

You’ll also find me producing marketing content and managing the PR/Communications for national charity, The Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA). At the HBA, we have three core audiences we communicate with; Our Member stations; Our Stakeholders and the general public. We represent hospital broadcasting across the UK and in my role as Communications Executive, create engaging content for our social media channels and newsletters as well as lead on national campaigns and marketing strategies, working from the start right through to completion and post-evaluation, working alongside the HBA’s other Executive Leads.

On the website front, I’m experienced with Drupal CMS, Joomla and WordPress. I also have experience of using Google Analytics as well as Facebook and Twitter’s own Insights to see what aspects of campaigns or websites are working, and what needs improving.

I have access to the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programmes and I’m highly skilled in Adobe Audition, InDesign and Photoshop respectively.
